Run the eeprom command to see your current settings. If the console setting is set to text then you must change it to ttya.

Change the setting with the command below.
root@earth> eeprom console=ttya
The server must be rebooted for the change to take affect.
After the reboot test to see if it works.
root@earth> ssh root@ILOM
-> start /SP/console
-> start /SP/console
